DeWiew Protect & Filter - Collapsible Dew Shield & Optical Filter Holder for DWARF Mini

Upgrade your DWARF Mini with the Astrofaber DeWiew Protect & Filter, a dedicated accessory kit designed to improve optical protection, dew control, stray-light reduction, filter use and safer operation during astrophotography sessions.

The kit combines a collapsible conical Dew Shield, an optical filter holder for 2" M48 x 0.75 filters, an integrated Wide Camera Hood, a self-aligning magnetic mounting system, a Riser Stand for optimal calibration clearance, and dedicated Safe Power Off System components.

Designed for DWARF Mini

DeWiew Protect & Filter is designed specifically for the DWARF Mini smart telescope, providing precise fit, stable positioning and smooth integration with the telescope body.

The main Dew Shield is engineered to avoid intrusion into the DWARF Mini main lens area, helping prevent aperture reduction, vignetting or light loss during Deep Sky imaging.

Collapsible Dew Shield for Deep Sky sessions

The large conical Dew Shield helps reduce dew formation on the main lens and limits peripheral ambient light, such as streetlights, low Moon glare or environmental reflections.

Its dedicated geometry helps reduce flare and diffuse light veils, supporting cleaner and more defined Deep Sky images.

Important note about the Wide-Angle view

After installing the large Dew Shield Cone, the view from the small wide-angle camera will be partially obstructed.

This is normal and does not compromise the use of the telescope in Deep Sky mode.

The SkyFinder function remains operational and can still show the position of targets in real time within the current area of the sky, helping you orient the telescope before starting imaging with the main lens.

The partial coverage affects only the wide-angle camera view and does not interfere with the imaging performed through the telescope’s main lens.

Integrated Wide Camera Hood

The filter holder includes a dedicated Wide Camera Hood, designed to shield the DWARF Mini wide-angle camera from unwanted side light during Milky Way Mode sessions.

2" optical filter holder

The optical filter holder allows you to mount standard 2" filters with M48 x 0.75 thread, including UV/IR cut filters, neutral density filters and color filters.

This gives you greater flexibility when adapting the DWARF Mini to different imaging conditions and optical filtering needs.

Riser Stand included

The kit includes a dedicated Riser Stand, designed to raise the DWARF Mini during operation and provide additional clearance when the large Dew Shield Cone is installed.

This can help the telescope complete its initial calibration correctly when additional space is required for the arm movement.

Operating recommendations

When the telescope is used in Deep Sky mode with Mandatory Calibration enabled, starting a session while pointing at an area of the sky that is not sufficiently visible may require an initial calibration preceded by a closing and reopening movement of the arm.

When operating in AZ mode, we recommend using either the included Riser Stand or a compatible tripod with at least 5 cm / 2 in of clearance to help ensure optimal calibration.

Alternatively, you can point the DWARF Mini toward a clear and sufficiently visible area of the sky before starting calibration. In this condition, the telescope can complete the initial calibration accurately without needing to perform the closing and reopening movement of the arm. This option is recommended when operating in EQ mode.
